A collection of essays from Past and Present discusing the theory of the "crisis of the 17th century" and related topics.
This book brought up some interesting topics when it comes to the switch from feudalism to capitalism in England and France -- basically Brenner says it was the stress between the nobles and lords that caused it -- but his critics say that it was not the only factor -- war, plague, famine, etc.
