Chris Argyris was born in 1923. He holds an A.B in psychology from Clark University, an M.A. in psychology and economics from Kansas University, and a Ph.D in organizational behavior from Cornell University. He has taught at Yale University and at Harvard, where he currently is the James Bryand mostrar más Conent professor in the graduate schools of business administration and education. Argyris has written more than 20 books that aspire to enable readers to create organizations and deal with management and the changing face of the corporate world. Organizational Learning II : Theory, Method and Practice, Overcoming Organizational Defenses, and Integrating the Individual and the Organization are a few of his more notable titles. Teaching Smart People How to Learn (Harvard… por Chris Argyris
It's like a teaser trailer for "Overcoming Organizational Defenses."
Het laatste boek van Chris Argyris (overleden in 2013) lag al veel te lang op mijn aandacht te wachten. Model I en II, de linker-rechterkolom casusbeschrijvingen, de gebruikstheorie versus de beleden theorie, wie eerder van Argyris gelezen heeft komt het allemaal opnieuw tegen. Toch onderscheidt 'Traps' zich wezenlijk. Dat komt allereerst door de benadering vanuit de 'traps', valkuilen, die we in onze organisaties hebben, veelal onbespreekbaar gemaakt hebben en waarvan ook de onbespreekbaarheid onbespreekbaar is, en die we op die manier vaardig vasthouden. Interessant is ook de flinke stapel recente (zo'n vijf jaar voor 2010) managementliteratuur die Argyris behandelt vanuit zijn model - en keer op keer aannemelijk maakt dat 't op deze manier niet erg kan opschieten. En ook net als bij eerdere boeken: je wordt er niet optimistisch geëngageerd van. "Argyris verkoopt absoluut niet", zei een collega laatst tegen me, en ook dat geldt, helaas, ook weer voor dit boek. Beknopt en helder over communities in organisaties, hoe je dit als management kunt bevorderen en wat de organisatie er aan kan hebben. Ook duidelijk schema met verschillen community vs projectteam, formele werkgroep, en informeel netwerk.
