Lou Antonio

This made for TV effort has a weak and convoluted plot that revolves around a young woman who is killed in a car accident, but a year later is spotted driving around her small country town. Police Chief Abel Marsh (Andy Griffith) is soon on the case and following up any number of ridiculous clues to try and get to the bottom of the mystery. Director Lou Antonio isn't able to bring any real sense of mystery or danger and the film moves forward from interrogation to interrogation with a steady but plodding pace. The police department appear to be made up of a group of the world's most inept police (including a young James Cromwell) and the Chief Marsh and the stereotypical townsfolk speak to each other with a strange line in sarcastic distain. There are some eccentric local characters, some mild love interest and the occasional comedic quips - some with an odd sexual undertone such as Man: "I'm a marine. I can ride a horse and love a woman." Wife: "Or is it vice versa?".… (más)
