Cold Justice #4: A Romantic Thriller

Although I read the previous installments I just plainly did not remember any of the main characters, were they come from and what they did previously. Picking up this book was just like any other standalone I put my teeth into; I smoothly fit in with not troubles.

The story in a few words:

ASAC Lincoln Frazer is the heads the BAU at FBI sets out to investigate a murder he is not usual part of but this random act picked his attention something keeps teasing him, this one seems more sinister and he needs to take charge. At the scene Dr. Isadora Campbell (Izzy) walk into Frazer’s life with all her baggage.......awe.....

My thoughts:

Ms. Anderson has set this one against the background of wind and sand dunes and combined her story with chilly lead characters, a rebellious teen, a murderer on the loose and sand dunes hiding a few grim secrets to discover. The plot is adequate and keeps a steady pace till the very last page. As the investigation goes on, Izzy and Frazer find themselves drawn to one another and by the end of the story we are into a hot romance and language that contains strong sexual terms. Of course, the killer is identified and finding out who he was definitely not a mystery to me I had guessed him a long time before the closing page. In whole “Cold Fear” has a good a story that held my attention but the romantic section.... not so much.....Will I read more from this author...definitely.… (más)

Cold Snap is an addictive romantic thriller with nail-biting suspense, tension, and unexpected twists. The story is quite dark where Eli Kane is concerned, but that's to be expected from someone on the FBI's most wanted list.
I really liked Brynn. A refreshing female character; strong and resourceful. She showed what she was capable of in an emergency quite early in the story. She was a real heroine throughout much of this book and not a cliche damsel in distress.
Drama and intrigue abound, and the revelations made at the end took me completely by surprise. The author has such a way of writing characters that there was even a minute or two where I wanted everything to work out for the bad guy even though I knew what he had done in the past. A very tense final few scenes made this book very memorable.
I read this book in a day, and I couldn't put it down. An excellent read from start to finish.… (más)

Cold Light of Day

The daughter of a notorious Russian spy, Scarlett Stone is determined to prove her father's innocence. To that end, she infiltrates the Russian embassy to plant a listening device in the ambassador's office unwittingly interfering with an FBI investigation. Targeted by both the Russians and the FBI, Scarlett finds herself relying on former Navy SEAL and current FBI profiler Matt Lazlo to keep her safe. But as the net tightens, Scarlett and Matt suspect a traitor in their midst.

An exciting suspense plot and an enjoyable romance even though the heroine is somewhat TSTL.

The Russian traitor angle is compelling and called to mind the case of Robert Hanssen with a twist, i.e., Scarlett's father is innocent. Although the Russians are the obvious villains, and their actions are disgusting, the primary mystery revolves around the identity of the FBI mole. This element is well-written and keeps the reader guessing.

One troubling aspect, however, is the unnecessary inclusion of the faked rape scene, which adds nothing to either plot or characterization as the victim is unconscious and the photos taken by the rapist are never mentioned again in the book.

In terms of the romance, Matt and Scarlett have great chemistry, especially during their initial interactions. Their reactions to one another after Scarlett's true identity is revealed are realistic and believable. The inlcusion of cameo roles by Alex Parker and Mallory Rooney from book #1 is an added bonus.

Overall, a good addition to the series.… (más)
