Collectively, this series rates five stars for its continuity and character development. Both, the Edenites and Kaerin work toward the next confrontation when the portal opens. The ensuing battle is planet-wide and all-encompassing but technology will ordain the winner. Lots of hooks for continuing make me hopeful that it will.

The Edenites find that their new "digs" have some problems with their neighbors. The Kaerin do not like anyone they cannot enslave and going back to Old Earth would be awkward as well as fatal. An alliance with the surviving Jena; basically the children, the Kaerin left alive as an exemplar for their enslavement practices, is promising but off to a quite difficult start. This series continues to develop and sustain its interesting storyline quite well.

The Edenites recognize that there is a lot of work to be done and enemies to eliminate before they can make their new homeland safe. Portable gates are needed and in progress and perhaps even some new allies. Old Earth is deteriorating rapidly so they have to take Chandra from its High Blood rulers. This series is still evolving nicely.

Enemies, externally and internally, galore as the Edenites settle into their new world. Their militia is willing but needs training and experience. Neither are up to par as hordes of challenging warriors appear and threaten their very existence. Tactics evolve and allies are found but the warfare is relentless and challenging. This series continues to be quite interesting.
