I enjoyed reading this book and seeing all the things you can do with the spiralizer. I wanted to read this book prior to purchasing a spiralizer so that I know what I can use it for. I have seen these spiralizer devices on tv but have never looked into what I can do with it.

Overview: This book was written to provide recipes for people who have purchased a spiralizer. It focuses on recipes for those following special diets: gluten-free, paleo, weight loss. The recipes generally include a protein and vegetables for a complete meal.

Contents: There are several introductory chapters, including information on why the book was developed, as well as some useful information on using a spiralizer. Then there are 3 sections of recipes by type of diet. I would have liked the background on using a spiralizer to have provided more discussion of the types of blades included and what each is good for. There is a list of vegetables that are suitable for use in a spiralizer, and a list of ways to prepare or cook spiralized vegetables. There is no index.

Recipes: The recipes are varied. They start with an introduction, have ingredient lists separated by process, and usually have straightforward instructions. A few have errors, or lack detail on how to prepare the vegetables with the spiralizer. One gluten-free recipe calls for matzo meal or panko bread crumbs, both of which are primarily wheat. A couple of recipes would have fit better in a different section. In addition, a couple of recipes have errors in the instructions in which ingredients are left out or are duplicated. There are no photos of recipes.

Veggeroni & Cheese: This recipe is quite simple and tasty—like Kraft macaroni and cheese. However, I found that the amount of liquid called for was way too high. Since a specific type of gluten-free flour was not specified, I used only 2 cups of milk and found it was still pretty runny after the stovetop cooking. I only baked it for 20 minutes, but it was just starting to thicken and develop a crust after that period. Also, there is no additional seasoning mentioned and my mother needed to add salt even though we used sharp cheddar cheese, which ended up quite mild. Finally, the recipe calls for a 9 oz. package of cheese, but my local stores don’t carry that weight as a standard.

Techniques: The main technique is the use of the spiralizer. The book does not provide much in the way of instruction on how to use the device. It does have a tip on how to clean it. Other cooking techniques are common.

Summary: This book is best for people familiar with a spiralizer looking for recipes to further utilize it. However, some are more suited to a food processor, especially as a couple have the spiral slices chopped in a food processor anyway.

I received a copy free in exchange for an honest review.

I've seen coconut oil become all the rage as of late, and this book really goes into detail about how useful it actually is. Many of the recipes are very easy to make, and it's nice to know that you can use coconut oil for many different things. I can't wait to try some of these out for myself.

I didn't think there would be a whole ton to offer, until I read it. I was amazed at how many recipes there was. There are a few I wrote down on my shopping list to try right away!

I basically thought veggie "spaghetti" noodles with spaghetti sauce was all you could really do with this kitchen tool. I really never thought about all the things you make when using your inspiration in the kitchen.

I was very pleased with this book! Its a definite give it a try if you were like me and was like "ok tried that now in the drawer you go" with the new kitchen tool.

I really did love the glutten free recipes that were added here. Those were some of my favorites!
