This is a review of a free copy. When I was much younger, I used to go to the newsagent's here in Spain and get a short western novel (that you could interchange every week for a new one) from a Spanish author called Marcial Lafuente Estefanía. And this book has reminded me of those short novels, with the hero, always describing his attire, getting his goal, some sad events but not interfering much. Easy reading and entertaining, even if you don't share (as I guess) the feelings that it has evoked in me.… (más)

Lots of build up to no action
Inaccurate details of the size and locations mentioned in Texas
You cannot get from San Antonio to Brownsville in two days on horseback.
Gatesville is north of Austin. San Antonio in not in a valley.
A bunch of bits and pieces to stories with anticlimactic endings.
No meat to the backstory of the characters.
Tells stories about two “famous” Texas Rangers but never tells what made them famous.

You are thrown into this book with just a little page of the main characters and quick background and then there's action right away. I felt like it was a little much for me to understand all the commotion going on. The characters weren't really flushed out enough for me to really draw me in and support them. And some characters were killed right after meeting them, so I didn't have time to get to know them. And sometimes the wording felt forced and not natural. I wish I could have liked this, but it just wasn't for me. If this genre is your thing, you might be more interested in it.… (más)

To be honest, this book didn't do it for me. There was a strange combination of providing too many detail about weapons and hope people breath and not enough information about the characters. The characters as a result didn't really draw me in or make me feel connected to them.
