Breaking Through offers a perspective from Catholic women that you don't ordinarily hear in today's culture. The essays are written by contemporary, Catholic women who strive to live a a life of deep faith amidst a culture that is offer hostile and alien to their deepest value. What is it like to be a woman today who enters into the medical profession and chooses to become an ob-gyn? What are the struggles facing young college woman as well as young professional women as they make their way in the world? How do their reconcile their faith within the culture? Why on earth would a young woman today seek out a religious life?

These are but a few of the questions raised and addressed within these pages. I found the essays to be thoughtful and thought-provoking. It takes courage to reveal these deeply personal examinations of conscious and to address some of the day's most divisive issues. It's nice to hear from those from the other side. This is a slim volume, easily read and definitely worth the time. Why do women embrace the Catholic church when today's cultural mindset seems to abhor the very idea?
