This book was a super fast royal themed read. I really did enjoy that it was set it college and set in london. I also really enjoyed the male love intreats a lot. The mystery elements that this book had really did keep me reading. I had some issues with the main character at the start of the book but she did grow on me throughout the read. This was a super charing read and def a fast read.

This book doesn't cover any new ground that hasn't been explored before in other recent royal romances, most notably last year's The Royal We. However, this book had lots of heart and gets an A+ for making me tear up several times, as Evie remembers her dead mother or (view spoiler). It's a very fun, fluffy, and quick read that I enjoyed heartily. I'm super excited to see there's a follow-up coming out in November (!!! Too far away!) focusing on Preston. I loved the supporting characters so it will be nice to have one of them taking center stage.

Also, I really wanted to see more of Evie's dad. Hopefully that will happen.

I was provided with an e-arc VIA NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book had a lot of potential, but I felt like the author was trying to play it safe. Everything felt muted, the personalities, the locations. I all felt less defined to give a more general, relatable feeling that wasn't entirely there. In the end, it ended up being very generic and I felt like I've read it all before. While it was light and fluffy and a fun read, I was bored at some points because it seemed so predictable. I did not always guess at parts, but I wasn't shocked at what happened either.

For once, the main character was not very irritating, but there was nothing extraordinarily likeable about her either. She had a so-so personality and is generally forgettable. The love triangle wasn't irritating, or annoying or stupid, but there wasn't really any build-up either. The struggles and the problems seemed catty and superficial and like something I've read before.

The writing was okay. It was simplistic, making it easy and enjoyable to read, but at some points, I found that I wanting more.

Lastly, I was hoping for more of a focus on music. It was there, but it was more of a subplot. I was hoping for a good battle between the main characters, I wanted them to go from enemies to lovers. I wanted a large battle and emotions that weren't muted affection. If anything fell short, it was here.

In the end, I think this is a great novel for a quick escape if you aren't looking for anything deep or original.
