Poet, Milton James Rhode Acorn was born on March 30, 1923 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. His hometown was the inspiration for some of his best works. Acorn received the Canadian Poet Award, more commonly known as the People's Poet award in 1970 for his poetry collection "I've Tasted My mostrar más Blood." This award was created in his honor by other Canadian poets. In 1975, he was awarded the Governor General's Award for "The Island Means Minago."
