This is the second light novel volume I've ever read.
I am not sure why I even started reading this, but I guess it's because the premise sounded interesting. A historical fantasy, sounds perfect. The thing that made me doubt my choice were the 'ecchi' and 'harem' tags, which usually work as an impulsive repellent to my eyes.
That said, those aspects of this novel have not been dominant in the first volume. Most of the moments that could've been interpreted as 'ecchi' were rather cute to me.
The main character is the earl of a small state, one of the noblemen in his country. Though, what makes him less noble is his weapon, a bow. Nevertheless, he shows his unbelievable skill with the bow throughout this volume which makes a lot of people change their minds about the bow being a low tier weapon. He is calm, brave and a very likeable character.
However, something weird happened to him. He became a prisoner of war of a young lady his age, and a very special lady at that -- a Vanadis. And what is a Vanadis? There are seven Vanadis, named for having each received a powerful weapon from the dragon to individually reign over seven territories. And he belonged to one of them now.
How to escape? How to go back to what he was before? Does he even really want that? Find out in the next volume of Madan no Ou to Vanadis.
Thank you for reading and see you next time!
