A beautiful story about realising that other's plans for us do not always coincide with God's plans. Great characters ( )

"Emily's Chance" is book 2 in "The Callahans of Texas" series by Sharon Gillenwater. We met Emily Rose at the end of Jenna and Nate's story, as Chance helped her haul boxes out of the Callahan Crossing Historical Museum during the wildfire that destroyed so many homes and businesses. In this novel, Chance Callahan has fallen head-over-heels for Emily, a museum curator who has come to Callahan's Crossing to go through articles being put aside to create a museum of the town's history. Chance is a bachelor and has never really ever dated a woman he would want to spend his life with, until now.

Callahans Crossing had just had a fire just as Emily got to town, the town had hired her to help them organise their museum, but now it was gone, so will she stay in town to help locate another place to display the few things they had saved from the fire. Chance just hopes so and tries to fine out a way to keep her there. She lives in San Antonia where she was trying to make a name for herself as an Museum Curator to prove to her parents that she could do it. There were very well off and had large businesses of their own but didn't thing she would ever be able to make it in the corporate world.

She loved the town and the town loved her, so did Chance but how did she fell about him? She was determined not to get involved with any man until she made it to the top of the ladder in the business world.

The Historical Society is low on money so it may be they will not need her services after all unless they can come up with a lot of donations. Will this little town be able to get enough antiques to set the museum back up and will she stay in town to help them?

This is a very good book, I read the first one and this one takes up where it left off, can't wait until the next one comes out from Sharon Gillenwater.

This book was sent to me by Claudia of Revell Publishing for my review. ( )

This was another good story in the Callahans of Texas series! I like a guy who knows what he wants and goes after it and that is exactly what Chance Callahan did in this story. He knew from the first time they met that Emily Rose was the gal for him. The problem is Emily Rose is only in the small Texas town to get the Callahan Historical Museum up and running and add it to her resume so she can get a job as a big city museum curator. She didn't plan on Chance, the cowboy contractor who sets out to woo her and does a really good job of it in my opinion. This was a good romantic read with alot of Texas charm, and I look forward to reading more about Callahan family in the future! ( )

I fell in love with Sharon's books when I had the chance to tour her first Callahans of Texas book, Jenna's Cowboy. Man, was that an awesome, awesome book! I loved the feel of the plot and the amazing characters that Sharon created. It was a book that I knew I had to read more of like it. So, when the opportunity to tour her newest release, Emily's Chance, I could NOT pass it up! I will tell you now that I was NOT in ANY way disappointed with book 2. It was just as fabulous (more so, I think!) as book 1.

In Emily's Chance, the story picks up exactly where Jenna's Cowboy left off. We saw Emily arrive in Texas in book 1 and saw Chance and his lovable personality in book 1, also. This is their story. A story of love at first sight for Chance and Emily's 5 year plan- that doesn't include local heart throb, heartbreaking Chance Callahan. Well, all of that is turned topsy turvy when God intervenes in her life and shows her that their paths crossed for a reason! Chance's down home Texas charm has to shine through and brightly to convince Emily of his true feelings....can he do it? Will she be able to fall head over heels like he did and accept something other than a 5 year plan?

Sharon's characters reach out of the book and grip your heart. They love God and it really shines through on to the readers. The amazing little town of Callahan's Crossing is beautiful and makes me wish that I could pack right up and move on down to Texas to meet this family and all their friends and neighbors. While this family does have struggles (who doesn't?!) they really know how to pull together and overcome obstacles. They FROG=FULLY RELY ON GOD.

If you are already a Sharon Gillenwater fan you MUST read this 5 star novel! It is so wonderful and deserving of high praises. The tenderness of family and friends and the sweet romance surrounded by God in this continuation of the Callahan's is wonderful and will have you laughing, smiling, and probably even a little crying. Definitely shouldn't be missed! If you've never read a novel by Sharon Gillenwater, then you MUST go get Jenna's Cowboy (click here to see my review) AND Emily's Chance RIGHT NOW. They are both fantabulous! And right now, book 3 in this series can't come fast enough!

Emily's Chance written by Sharon Gillenwater is a great christian romance novel set in Texas. It is the second book in The Callahans of Texas series but can easily be read as a stand alone work, in fact I didn't have the opportunity to read the first book, Jenna's Cowboy ,but had no problems jumping right into this novel.

The story opens up with the small town of Callahan's Crossing recovering from a devastating wildfire. Emily Rose Denny was in Callahan Crossing hired by the historical society to set up Callahan Crossing Museum but with the damage from the fire she isn't sure that there will even be a museum. Technically she could do the job for free, she didn't need the money she had a trust fund that her grandfather had set up for her that let her live quite comfortably, but she needed the job to add to her resume.

Chance had first met Emily during the fire, and for him it was love at first sight, or second site, since first site it was hard to see her thru the smoke and fire! He was 29 years old and looking to settle down, but the thing with most women in his area they were really only interested in his money. What he wanted was what his parents and sister had, a true love that could withstand lifes ups and downs. He is sure that Emily is the one he is going to marry, now he just has to convince her of that. So when he donates a building he has just restored to use as the museum, he hopes that she will stay and continue the work she started.

I loved this story, I felt the characters were very well developed, the background that we got with Emily was truly sad, even though she came from a wealthy family her life wasn't easy, she really hasn't had anyone in her life that truly cared for her, so when she starts to have feelings for Chance, she doesn't easily let go of her five year plan of becoming a curator of a large museum, feeling this is the only way that she can gain her parents approval and respect. Chance is a true gentleman, and will do anything for those he loves. Will Emily put her fears aside and take a chance on love with Chance?

I must say that I really enjoyed the secondary stories in this book as well, particularly the history we got from Margaret Bradley's journal, about the relationship she had with Chance's grandfather.

I loved my visit to Callahan Crossing and found Emily and Chance's story a wonderful read, I can't wait to read the next book in this series Megan's Hero due to be released June 2011 ( )
