Maximilian I of Mexico and his consort Charlotte of Belgium, known as Carlota were the only rulers of the second Mexican Empire. Installed by Napoleon III and a small group of Mexican Monarchists, the rule was short lived and even though Maximilian had a genuine love for Mexico and it's people and brought around liberal reforms the people of Mexico had no wish to be ruled by a foreign power and revolted. This is the fascinating story of his three year reign from documents and first hand accounts. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
