A Daniela Drescher picture book with a difference. Young children will love exploring the world of elves and fairies, and this time there's more to discover! Lift the three or four flaps on each page to find out what's hiding in the old tree, in the nest, in the grass or under the leaves. The simple text, which asks 'What's hiding in there?', is ideal for young children. This second edition has sturdier flaps, but all the same charm as before. Although far more animal-centric than many of Drescher's other titles, Who's Hiding In There?, originally published in German as Was raschelt den da?, still features plenty of elves and fairies, either in the main illustrations, or hidden behind various flaps. This is still the same magical woodland world found in the other books, after all. The artwork is just lovely, with its use of deep, vibrant colours and depiction of appealing animals and delicate magical beings. I particularly liked the title-page and front endpaper, with shows a fox making his way through the woods, and only wish that the fox were featured as one of the animals in the book. There isn't much of a story here, but the beautiful artwork, engaging question-and-answer text, and interactive flaps meant to keep the child searching, all combine to create an entertaining reading experience.
