"By the Light of the Study Lamp" was a great introduction to the Dana Girls and the inner workings of their group. You can easily read this book in a day or maybe 2 at the most. I found it hard to put down because of all the twists and turns.
My one con of this book was the ending I felt was kind of rushed and there was no build up. My mind was racing with who had attempted to take the lamp and how would they get it back! But that soon faded as the next chapter they took 3-4 pages to tell you what happens.
All together the book is still a great introduction to the girls and who they hang out with, but I felt the mystery could have been in another whole book honestly. ( )
