Although Paul lives on the same piece of conservation land that I do, I have yet to meet him. As homework for this occurrence, I read this book.

I was gifted this book by a student of a student of his for my tenth birthday. It had just been reprinted, and I was lucky enough to get a signed copy.

Since then, it's been sitting on my shelf. I've been intending to read it during the intervening decade and a half, but just got around to it.

it's amazing! It's so much more than a book on tracking. Paul shares a number of personal stories about experiences or observations with different animals, and also describes what I found to be peculiar and intriguing [rather than textbook] attributes about each animal.

Even though the body of the book is excellent, I was most caught by the introduction, which is about how the "art of seeing" has informed Paul's life on the whole. He has a book about just this subject ["The Wild Within"], which I think will be the next stop on my list. ( )

Did you ever wish that you could see where those animals went--you know, the ones who left tracks by the side of the road, and then disappeared? This book will help you figure out where they went. Tracks, scat, and other bits of evidence allow an animal to be identified and tracked. ( )

A brilliant look at wildlife and their lives.

"Paul Rezendes' book is about tracking, but also much more, it shows how to find your way home to the great web of life."

One of the best guides for tracking in the northeastern US. As a tracker, I make sure it's always in my pack when I'm in the field. Easy to use with amazing photographs for reference - highly recommended for trackers/naturalists of any level. ( )
