HOLY CATS YOU GUYS.
I've been looking for this book since the early 90s. I babysat for a family that had this, but all I could remember about it was "it had weird 70s pictures, one of which showed someone wearing a lightbulb as a necklace" and "it had the story structure 'if you're something, then something'."

So of course I could never find it and was starting to think it didn't exist, or was some weird self-published Montana thing. It remained a mystery, until today. Today I found it sitting on the desk in the Friends of the Library bookstore, a $2 pricetag slapped on it.

$2 is a small price to pay for solving this long lost mystery, I say! ( )

Huh? Rene Magritte did not do platitudes. For good reason. I'm not sure what Cooper was on when he created this, but I know I *don't* want any.

If the stars burn out... button up the night against the cold." What in tarnation does that mean? The only metaphor I liked is "If you must cry... plant your tears as seeds." And most of the pictures were worth looking at. I'll have to get more opinions from friends & family, especially since I did buy the darn thing." ( )

Huh? I like poetry, metaphor, modern art, creativity... but this just doesn't work for me at all. The concept is great, but the execution is lame. Imo. ( )

A little picture book with poetic 'if/then' combinations.

A book that attempts to turn lemons into lemonade. Interesting illustrations. ( )
