On August 11th 1999, for the first time since 1927, millions of people in Britain and Europe will have an opportunity to witness a total eclipse of the Sun. Millions more people will see 90% or more of the Sun eclipsed by the Moon. After 1999, the next solar eclipse over Britain is due in the year 2090.
