(Reviewing the entire series in one shot here)

This was my third time reading this manga and thankfully still enjoyed it! The art was beautiful and I loved the magic system and worldbuilding, though I always have the same issue with love triangles in these types of mangas - I end up liking the guy that wasn't chosen lol. That was especially true here since Kyo was too close to the brooding-mysterious trope, while Frey was his exact opposite and therefore more fun to read. I did find myself wanting more lore on the Lotis Masters since we were only told their history in bits and pieces; I would have liked to see how they rebuilt the order after the disaster that struck it.

As far as the main conflict between light and darkness goes, it did feel a little one-dimensional at times where characters could apparently be "cured" of the darkness when a Lotis Master defeated it. Also it became really hard to accept Mayura in the end after she spent so much of the series being evil to Alice; even before she turned to the Mara she was somewhat pretentious, believing she deserved everything without question. I guess I can't really believe, given the various complexities of human nature, that she and the other "saved" folks can now live their lives as passive happy people, with no further problems in everyday interactions. However, it wasn't as contrived of an ending as with other fantasy mangas I've read. Overall this was still a quick and pleasant comfort read that fulfilled some nostalgia for my teenage years. ( )

This was a good series. Lots of focus on the power of words and the fact that everyone has a little darkness inside. The ending was kind of rushed and I love the hint about Nyozeka. Also glad that Kyo and Alice do in fact end up together (yay). ( )
