I have tried reading this a few times since I have received it, and I am just not getting into this book. I know that it is probably well-written, but it is just not something I can relate to, at this moment.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Like Camel cigarettes, this book is not for everyone. As the book warns early on, the absurdity is over the top. But, if you like extreme satire in the vein of Douglas Adams, this is for you. It is a very sharp indictment of the trends in education toward sensitivity and banning anything that might upset anyone by taking those themes to the very limits. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Was a weird format in chapter but my first satire i believe. Was sad and ridiculous which is to be expected. Skipped through the last two or three chapters. Felt like I read enough. Overall was interesting Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Yes, the book is absurd. At times this is fun and engaging, but other times it is a bit over the top. I don't think this book would attract middle or high school students even though it is about someone 14 years old. I have been an educator for about 50 years and I agree with the idea that some of the things happening in education today are getting rather absurd. The last few pages of the book give a little message about handling these things today and I can agree with the author's feelings about the current situation. However, it was a bit of a struggle to read the entire book. I felt that the book was just too long to hold interest. Absurd situations changed, but the results and messages were repeated. I would have liked to see this topic tackled in a shorter story with more "believable" absurdities. I think the message needs to be addressed, but in a way that will attract and hold more readers.
An absolutely hilarious story that had me laughing at the odd behaviors presented in every chapter... The perfect book for those of you who may look around and ask, “Is divisiveness becoming as absurd as I think it is?” Gloriously absurd... Kosmos employs a conversational style throughout the narrative and portrays Blaze as larger than life but still relatable; the teen is fierce, determined, and angry at the injustice around her… For the most part, though, a sense of silliness carries the day, and Blaze’s escapades are often delightfully funny.
