This book seeks to guide business people through the uneasy waters of cultural diversity. It does a fair job at this task; it succeeds in offering short encapsulations of various cultural 'types', profiling is what I would call this. I think my complaint about this book is not just that it's a bit dated now, but rather its entire premise or point of origin. The book tries to give tips on avoiding gaffes and faux pas, and advice on how to be more culturally sensitive - to avoid offending potential customers / suppliers. I think it would be more noble to try to promote genuine cultural appreciation and understanding as a goal. Improved business would be a secondary, by-product of this. But the cultural understand should be the true goal, not the means. ( )
