HTML:Gunfighters Preacher and Jamie MacCallister keep the peace on the Oregon Trail in the latest novel in the Preacher & Jamie MacCallister Western series from national bestselling authors William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone. Preacher and Jamie MacCallister search for a hidden fortune that might be just a legendâ??but the bandits, bullets, and bloodshed they find are all too real . . . HOSTILE TERRITORY Jamie MacCallister remembers the Alamoâ??especially one brave frontiersman who died fighting there. Now the fallen veteran's granddaughter needs Jamie's help. She's found a letter written by her grandfather with a map to the spot where Alamo legend Jim Bowie supposedly hid a fortune in silver and gold. Jamie never believed the story. Countless treasure hunters had scoured the area and come up empty handed. But his friend's grandaughter is convinced it's hidden where no one has ever dared to searchâ??deep in the heart of Comanche country . . . There's no way Jamie will let this nice young lady venture into such hostile territoryâ??not without his help. But they're going to need backup. Enter Preacher: easily the toughest mountain man in the West and, luckily, Jamie MacCallister's loyal friend. Together, they begin their journey at Fort Belknap, the farthest outpost of civilizationâ??and the gateway to the barbaric Comancheria. In that deadly, untamed land the three will seek their fortune. But what they find is a cutthroat gang of outlaws, a bloodthirsty group of deserters, and a powerful tribe of Comanche warriorsâ??who kill all trespass No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Together, Jamie Ian MacCallister and Preacher are a formidable team when traveling in dangerous terrain. Jamie is approached by a young woman who receives a letter and a map from her grandmother that her grandfather wrote when he was at the Alamo. Supposedly the information she receives is going to lead her to a great treasure that Jim Bowie hid long ago.
While Jamie has his doubts about the young woman’s claim, with Kate’s loving support Jamie sets out to locate Preacher. Preacher joins the various other men Jamie has assembled to accompany them into very dangerous territory. There are others who now know of the treasure that comes to a head when the various parties meet at the place where the treasure is supposed to be buried.
Throughout the book I enjoyed reading the many interactions Preacher and Jamie encounter with characters who have dubious pasts. Falcon, Jamie’s son, is still a youngster who longs to accompany his dad on the adventure but isn’t allowed to go. I plan to read the Eagles series soon where Falcon is the lead character to see how much his adventures resemble those of his parents.
The ending was epic when all the various parties seeking a supposed treasure meet in the middle of nowhere. What is there will surprise and entertain readers. I do hope that there will be more adventures for Jamie Ian MacCallister and Preacher as they are men of renown and true frontiersman. With the historical flavor in the book, action, suspense, mystery, and romance, audiences will be hard pressed to put the story down even for a moment.
