Having not watched TV in over 30 years, I had not even heard of these comedians, but the premise of the book sounded good, and as a shamed Southerner myself, it seemed they were coming at things from the proper direction. And indeed they are. There's a lot of wisdom here (probably more wisdom than humor, even), and their takes on the places I have personally been, such as New Orleans, Charleston, Atlanta, and England are spot-on. Highly recommended. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: Read by the authors. Join Southern comedian duo Trae Crowder and Corey Ryan Forrester in this hilarious and irreverent travel guide as they wander about ponderin' the peculiarities beyond their small-town front porches. Trae and Corey will take you from the smallest of small towns to major US metropolises (or is it metropoli? We haven't a fartin' clue!). They'll even cross the pond to sip tea in some of them fancy kings-and-castles places that PBS Viewers Like You can't stop yapping about. From Chickamauga to Cheyenne, New York to New Orleans, Seattle to Scotlandâ??no matter where these two wandering jesters go, there's something to roast, something to toast, and something to learn about what ties us together as humans. Even the most outrageous of us. In this book you'll find: Loads of eccentric things folks say. Seriously well-informed tips on exactly where to eat and what to order in each city. Anecdotes from Corey about everything from "German Mardi Gras" in Helen, Georgia, to eatin' over-priced rabbit in Napa, California. And as many off-the-beaten-path jokes as could be packed in!Perfect for anyone who: Likes to travel. Loathes to travel. Any Southerner who's both a little proud and a little ashamed of the South (that's all the sane ones). Any Northerner, Midwesterner, or West Coaster who wants to know what two self-proclaimed rednecks have to say about their own hometown. Anyone from the UK who thinks us Yanks are the craziest folks on God's green earth (cause this book will likely confirm that stereotype, yup).Travel bingo boards and ad libs are included in the audiobook companion PDF download. Having grown up both in a very small town and travelling, this book touched a special place for me. Trae and Corey captured the reality of being a small town person AND an American travelling. If not careful, we can miss a lot by being self-centered and arrogant about our place in the world. When we take moment to stop and enjoy where we are travelling and the people we meet along the way, travel is much more about the journey than the destination (to appropriately corny this review up). These two "hillbillies" take the reader along with them as they visit new places and learn new things. At the same time, they do not disparage these other places and even laugh at themselves in new settings.
I highly recommend this book to small town folks, those who savor their travels, and anyone who just enjoys humor that does not cut down anyone else. ( )
