This book was very enjoyable and a fast read. Although it took me almost all month to read, any time I picked up the book, I would read a large chunk. My favorite part of this story was the characters. I loved seeing them grow and change and accept who they are.
My favorite character was Arthur, and I definitely preferred the romance between him and Gabriel. The bond between our main band of characters was beautiful, and I love how that was summed up in the final chapter of the book. The book is a funny romance, but it also has a side plot of a mystery where you are trying to figure out who is trying to take over the kingdom which eventually culminates to a large, bloody battle at the end of the book. That part of the plot is smaller throughout the book until you get to the battle, but it was still interesting enough to keep you captivated because at that point, you’re all ready connected to the characters.
The reason I gave the book a four stars instead of five stars is because the romance between Bridget and Gwen was boring to me in comparison to Art and Gabriel. ( )
Rollicking with great dialogue and complex relationships, this is just plain fun! I couldn't put it down. Gwen & Art, Gabriel and Bridget are all well-developed characters, as are most others. Love the twists on Arthurian legend, such as the current king having a rectangular table. ( )
WHAT A TREAT. This is adorable, sweet, funny, witty, well written. I've never really been into historical settings, but this was really very sweet. I really had a fun time reading it, especially with how well written the dialogue was. I love the characters, and how they're developed.
In Camelot, hundreds of years after King Arthur's death, Princess Gwendoline has been betrothed since birth to Arthur, who she's hated almost as long. Her brother and best friend, Gabriel, is destined to be king, though his preferred style of kingship is different from their father's. When Arthur and his man Sidney come to Camelot to stay for the summer, Arthur and Gwen form an agreement to pretend to get along, to keep their parents off their backs - and because they've each discovered a secret about the other. Arthur is gay, and Gwen is has a crush on the only female knight in the realm, Lady Bridget.
