The collection contains 47 poems of which 38 are published for the first time. The uniting theme is Wellington, the city which has been Lauris Edmond's home for most of her writing life. Its buildings, and streets, its weather and landscapes are the settings for the feelings and thoughts, sometimes poignant, sometimes witty, that inform the poems. Lauris Edmond has won several prizes for her work, and was awarded the OBE for services to poetry.
