Lotty is off to school and encounters Grant, a classroom bully. She tries many different ways of dealing with the bully.....until she discovers that bullying affects many people. This book really gives practical methods for dealing with bullies. The "Tell It" method is phenomenal.

Getting along with other children at school is very important but when feeling unsafe around any peers, please take immediate action and tell an adult to resolve the matter peacefully before it gets out of hands and someone gets hurt.

Lotty is picked on and bullied at school by Grant. It bothers her but she doesn't feel she can express it to her teachers or parents. Her siblings offer assorted advice which Lotty tries to no avail. Finally she gets the idea of banding with other kids to confront Grant whenever they see him bullying another kid. This treatment of bullying is good because it addresses the doubts kids often have about the advice adults give them, advice they know isn't going to work. Also, the solution is generated by the kids themselves.

The Bully Blockers Club is about a raccoon named Lotty. Lotty is so excited about starting school until school actually starts, and she meets a boy named Grant Grizzly. Grant begins bullying her, and no one is able to stop him, until Lotty comes up with a great idea. She is going to start the “Bully Blockers Club.” This is a club of her classmates who have been bullied by Grant as well. Together, the classmates learn that standing up to bullies is much easier when you do not have to do it alone. As the story continues the teachers catch on, and begin discussing bullying with the class.

This is a great book about bullying, because it shows the students someone who has been bullied and what they did to stop it. In the book, Lotty is given ideas to stop the bullying. One idea was to ignore Grant, then she was told to walk away from, and to tell the principal, or to just make a joke out of the bullying. It allows students to think about their bullying situations and what would be the best way to respond to them. It shows them that being the better person will always bring you out on top.
