Atticus Mulvaney is the eldest son of eccentric billionaire, Thomas Mulvaney-a role he takes very seriously. Atticus takes everything seriously. Like his brothers, Atticus is a psychopath, raised to right the wrongs of a broken justice system. Unlike his brothers, he's not very good at it. Jericho Navarro is no psychopath, but he is a vicious killer. Like Atticus, he also has a secret life. To most, he's just a mechanic. But to a ragtag group of social misfits, he's Peter Pan, teaching them to eliminate those who prey on the weak with extreme prejudice. When Atticus and Jericho come face to face over a shared enemy, their accidental meeting ends in an explosively hot hookup neither can forget. But they have nothing in common. Atticus is a buttoned-up closeted scientist and Jericho is a man on a mission, determined to find and punish those responsible for the death of his sister. Still, Jericho can't stay away. And, truthfully, Atticus doesn't want him to. As Jericho's mission begins to bleed into Atticus's life, two separate but equally brutal families will need to learn how to fight together to take out a common enemy. But no amount of brute force can show Jericho how to scale the walls of a psychopath's heart. Can Jericho convince Atticus that, sometimes, the couple who kills together stays together? Moonstruck is a high heat, intense psychopath romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It features a fumbling, sexually confused maniac and the dominating, unapologetic gang leader who can't stop tormenting him. As always, there's gratuitous violence, very dark humor, more killers than you can count, and enough explosive chemistry to level a city block. This is book three in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.… (más)

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

Introduction
Moonstruck was a book that I just couldn't resist picking up. I am not sure why I immediately picked this up, I think because I had been reading reviews that this one was better than Psycho, but also I had just come from the high of reading Psycho and needed to read more. I will say that if you love the style of this author and this series, then this is definitely going to be a fun addition. But I will be honest in that this book didn't quite do it for me, at least not in the ways that the first two books did. I am not sure its because I jumped into it right after Psycho, maybe these books are best with some pacing between them? I am not sure, but I will waiting till next week before I pick up Asa's book, just in case that is the reason and I also don't want to risk a slump. I am on a great track record of a year without one. But I will say that this one was entertaining, and I enjoyed so many aspects of it.

Summary
In this set up we have our protagonists "Atticus and Jericho" Atticus is the oldest son of Thomas Mulveney but is also the son that is the least accepted by the family, or that is how it appears to him. But while he is out on a job, he runs into another man who is also seeking to kill the same man and Jericho comes onto him sexually and they share a passionate one night stand. But when Jericho seeks him out, Atticus doesn't know how to deal with it yet. But as Jericho and Atticus explore each other, they also work together with their families to find the person who murdered Jericho's sister who was missing for years.

My Outlook
I found Moonstruck to be such a interesting read if I am being honest. I wasn't sure exactly what I thought of this one, but I was fascinated by Atticus' book. He is a sibling that everyone teases the worst and seeing his point of view was kinda sad in some ways especially in regards to his father. Because Atticus isn't the same like his brothers are in how it pertains to being a psychopath and seeing this side of him being fleshed out was so well done by the author. I was intrigued by Jericho but I will be honest in that I just wasn't quite as invested in their romance as I expected to be. I am not sure if it was just the timing of picking this one up or having read it right after Psycho, but I definitely think I need to pace myself with these books. I will say that there is a lot of steam in this one, more than the previous two books I feel like. Not that its a bad thing, but just felt a bit more focused than what we saw in previous books.

Overall View
I found Moonstruck to be a tantalizing addition to such a sensual thrilling series that has held my heart and keeping captivating it!

Necessary Evils follows the Mulvaney family; seven men who were diagnosed as psychopaths as children and adopted by billionaire Thomas Mulvaney. By day, the men lead normal lives, by night, they channel their psychopathic tendencies to kill those who the justice system fail to prosecute. The third book in the series, Moonstruck features the eldest Mulvaney, Atticus; research scientist and awkward killer and Jericho Navarro, mechanic and leader of his own little gang of killers.

Well. I didn't like this as much as I liked the first two books. It wasn't bad - just different and not quite what I was expecting.

I liked Atticus but I didn't love him. He started off interesting - the mimic who was teaching himself - but it kind of just went nowhere. And he didn't really make sense either. He just seemed to be contradictory. He hates blood and gore but only when it's what - on him? Not just around him? So he can eat? I mean it just seemed unrealistic. And he relates best to Calliope and Lucas and Noah? I thought the idea that he maybe had feelings and empathy and compassion and whatever would've been interesting to explore but it never went any further into that either. I would've liked to see his friendship with Calliope explored further too. And I wanted to know more about what he remembers of his mother. It was mentioned and then just never mentioned again. So I had conflicting feelings about Atticus. He could've been really interesting but he was just average.

Jericho had his own problems. A killer that's not a psychopath. Fine I can get on board with that. A killer with a heart of gold. Sure. But I didn't really feel like he was differentiated from the psychopaths. He supposedly has feelings but has no issues with torture? I didn't see it. Not without having a personal stake or needing the information to justify it. So he didn't quite ring true.

I did more or less like the relationship between them. But my issues with each meant I didn't love them. As far as Jericho's family...I'm not sure how I felt about that. In some ways sure, great. In other ways it felt like just another family of psychopaths. That said, the chemistry between Avi and Felix was off the charts and I'm feeling pretty confident I'm going to love their book, so I don't know what I think about Jericho's family.

I'm also pretty curious about the whole Thomas/Aiden thing. So it wasn't my favourite but it's not a low rating either. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4. ( )

This is a five-star story but some annoying edit fails force me to give it four.

I enjoyed the plot immensely, as well as each man's family drama, plus hot sex scenes. The epilogue was even perfect--uncommon praise from me.

But, alas, there is an annoying repetition problem, sometimes verbatim, of character feelings and motivations, to the point where I growled out loud. Several times. That's never good. Worse, though, was occasional confusion as to whose POV I was in.

I will read the next book. I just hope it gets better edits!

Formulaic and horribly messed up, like a harlequin from a demented mind - yet still kinda cute. ( )
