I borrowed this on ebook from the library. Thoughts: This was an incredibly fun read with an interesting fantasy world, lots of humor, some steamy scenes, magic, and action. Cinnamon (Cin) is a spice trader who likes to drink and wants to live a peaceful life on her family's spice farm. Unfortunately, after an afternoon of drinking, she accidentally rescues a demon from under a fallen rock and finds out that the cure to the demon's insanity is ironically the spice cinnamon. Then the demon, Fallon, reveals that the goddess that Cinnamon's village worships is really an evil lich and enlists her help in stopping the goddess. This is not the life Cin signed up for but Fallon is incredibly hot and sweet to her and she can't help being drawn in by him. This book was pure fun. It's one of those stories where the characters find themselves in one ridiculous situation after another. The characters are supportive and generally nice to each other (if a bit odd at times). The world is fairly simple but well done with demons and magic. There are quite a few very explicit sex scenes in here. They were decently done and generally a mix of being sweet with some roughness. I did find the language used to describe them a bit repetitive. Fallon definitely has more of an alpha male thing going on, so just a heads up if that's not your thing. Cin does a good job on calling him on this at points, so the dynamic between Fallon and Cin felt very well balanced. The writing itself is easy enough to read and I enjoyed the witty dialogue. The writing does feel a bit unpolished at times, just a bit rough around the edges when it comes to sentence structure and descriptions. That didn't stop me from enjoying the story though. My Summary (4/5): Overall this was an incredibly fun humorous fantasy with a lot of explicit steamy scenes. I enjoyed the world, the characters, the quest-type storyline, and how much fun I had reading this. My only complaint would be the writing feels a bit unfinished at times (almost more like fan-fic). That didn't really detract from how much I enjoyed this. I do plan on continuing the series because this was so much fun to read! That Time I Got Drunk … is a book I picked up for the insouciance of the title. Cinnamon is a girl who farms spices and rescues a drunk who can turn into a dragon. He is sexy. And the book, it turns out, has much more R-rated bodice ripping than plot. Goodreads markets it alongside books with titles like Sweet Vengeance and Muscles and Monsters. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: All I wanted to do was live my life in peace. Maybe get a cat, expand my spice farm. Really anything that doesn't involve going on a quest where an orc might rip my face off. But they say the Goddess has favorites. If so, I'm clearly not one of them. After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all he wanted to do was kill an evil witch enslaving his people. I mean, I get it, don't get me wrong. But he's dragging me along for the ride, and I'm kind of peeved about it. On the bright side, he keeps burning off his shirt. . The first time I saw the cover of this book, I thought it was a joke rather than a real book. Later, I read the description, realized it was real, and eventually caved to the same part of me that wants to read Japanese light novels with titles like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! There's no reincarnation here, but you get the idea. Anyway, coming at this from a light novel mindset was probably for the best. The mix of stereotypical fantasy world + modern speech didn't bug me much. I wanted a fun but not necessarily fantastic read, and the cover art indicated I could expect some romance too.
The overall tone of this was pretty light, which made some of the more violent moments a bit of a shock. Fallon did not react well to anyone who threatened Cin in any way. Since Cin was left a bit shaky by several of these scenes as well, I was willing to roll with it. Then Fallon and Cin went off for a sex scene right after Fallon went on a rampage and destroyed a city. I wasn't as wild about that.
Characters didn't always react in ways that were entirely believable to me. For example, Usha barely took any convincing before siding with people who told her that everything she'd thought she'd known about demons and the goddess Myva was a lie. She also didn't second-guess any of it after her new companions destroyed the city she'd presumably lived in for most of her life.
Despite my issues with this, I did enjoy it overall. Based on some reviews I read, the next book stars Cin's friend Brie (whose family sells cheese, of course) and Felix the werewolf, so I'm looking forward to that.
