I don’t really know what to say about this book. So let me start with a quick summary. This appears to be a retelling of beauty and the beast. Finley is our Belle character. Nyfain is the Beast. A terrible curse has fallen upon the entire kingdom. And the villagers where Finley lives are dying off. But she has figured out a way to slow down the dying using a plant that she has to steal from out of the forest surrounding the castle. She’s caught stealing these plants by the beast and he takes her back to the castle and locks her in a tower. Meanwhile, demons have taken over the castle and they hold nightly sex parties and orgies. It’s just a lot of weirdness going on in this book and you have to pick through the weird part to get to the story. And the story is that Finley is a shifter with her animal trapped, and her animal appears to be the mate of Nyfain. Nyfain, on the other hand, appears to know exactly who and what Finley is to him, but he pushes her away to try to protect her from the demon king. This is unfortunately just book one of a four book series, so not even half the story has been told. But the first part was told in such a way that I don’t even know if it’s worth it to try to find out the rest of what happened. Maybe one day I’ll be curious enough. ( ) I almost gave this 4 stars because some of the world building elements didn't make sense to me, and the beginning was a bit rough. But then I thought, WTH - I devoured it in one sitting, I was rapt, and that's what counts. Forget bodice-ripping. AROR is a wild, free-b*lling mashup of magic & dragons fantasy with a snarky, urban-fantasy style heroine; dystopian, almost post-apocalyptic fantasy; traditional morality play-style fairy tale; and sex, sex, sex. Oh, and Hadriel has flounced his way into being my new favorite side character. I give this 5 panties - as in the number of changes you'll need. PS, I was really worried about how those pearls were going to figure in. I'm disappointed. Or relieved. Both? sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

I could save him, but he would ruin me. The beast. The creature that stalks the forbidden wood. The dragon prince. He has suffered a fate worse than death. We all have. A curse put upon us by the mad king. We are a kingdom locked in time. Shifters unable to feel our animals. Stuck here by a deal between the late king and a demon who seeks our destruction. The only one keeping this kingdom alive is Nyfain, the golden prince to a stolen throne. The last dragon shifter. He's our hope. He's my nightmare. When he catches me trespassing in the forbidden wood, he doesn't punish me with death, as he's entitled. He takes me, instead. Forces me back to the castle as his prisoner. Seeks to use me. Apparently, I can save him. I can save the whole forgotten kingdom, locked away by the demon king's power. But it would mean taming the monster beneath his skin. It would mean giving myself to him. It would mean my ruin. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
