Whoa! This is the sequel to Cruel Money where it ended in a cliffhanger and we get to see Natalie and how she has returned to New York as an author. She has accomplished so much yet the sting of what the crew and Penn did to her is still there. First of all I should say I’m Team Penn all the way, so when she starts a relationship with a certain someone it absolutely drives me crazy and I can’t stand it. This person does the same things Penn has done lied, kept things a secret, and she easily tries to give them the benefit of the doubt unlike she did with Penn until this new guy ultimately betrays her. It was just frustrating but the drama with the crew and who will she end up with was very well written that I couldn’t put it down. I’m ready for the next one because I can’t wait to see what happens next and I’d love to see Katherine get smacked around some. ( )

This was an interesting bridging novel. It takes a different approach that you don’t often see in a trilogy that follows the same leads and I found that to be very refreshing. I really had no idea how things were going to turn out until the very end...and I still don't really know!

The first half of the novel follows the mundane life of Natalie as she tries to find herself once again in the upper east side. While there is an air of "something isn't right here", I really craved more drama when it came to the plot. It was a little dry at times because I think I want this story to be more complex than it is.

One of the highlights for me in the first novel was Natalie’s character evolution and how she really came into herself. But here, that Natalie gets challenged from all sides and I found it interesting to see how she would weather the Upper East Side storm.

Linde makes it hard not to love her stories. She makes it even harder to review them. Scandal meets backstabbing and dangerous attraction. How can one love a person when they are not even sure they like them? There in lies the paradox of Natalie and Penn. Buckle up for a manipulative ride as addictive as it frustrating. ( )
