So many twists and turns along the way kept me completely wrapped up in this book. ( ) Gripping, engrossing, and contains very cold sinister characters. The plot twist won't disappoint you. I suspected the antagonist early on, but the ending was mind-blowing, especially the reasoning for it. I had to pause and look away before proceeding. Readers should be cautioned though that the ending poses a moral dilemma that produces a dramatic, gut-wrenching melancholia that could either cause the reader to love the story or have mixed feelings about it, hence, stirred some uncomfortable emotions in me. Spolier alert: Some aspects of it confused me though, for instance, why was the wife never declared as a suspect? I mean c'mon anyone who watches or reads murder mysteries knows the spouse is always the first suspect. Second, the first-person perspective did not make sense because it was happening during the present time not beforehand, so why was she surprised if she already knew. It seems like the author was trying to do a Gone Girl but failed to do so. I made the mistake of reading this book at the same time as another book with both a similar structure and a similar plot. While I like the book, I was a bit surprised by the ending of the book, which briefly made me want to re-read the book to see what I missed. However, I am not sure that I missed much. There were some holes in the foreshadowing of what was to come. I truly enjoy a good twist -- whether a movie or a book -- but this one did not quite measure up to what I like. Still, it was worth reading as there were many very good descriptions of relationships and the troubles that can abound in all of them. Pacing was a bit weird and very unrealistic. As many have said, Adam is the most unlikable character possible, but every character is unlikable. The ending is predictable. There were just enough threads throughout to make you guess a bit and doubt the ending will be as predictable as it ends up being. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
