"The author of the "rich, dark, and intricately twisted" (Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author) The Family Upstairs returns with another taut and white-knuckled thriller following a group of people whose lives shockingly intersect when a young woman disappears. Owen Pick's life is falling apart. In his thirties, a virgin, and living in his aunt's spare bedroom, he has just been suspended from his job as a geography teacher after accusations of sexual misconduct, which he strongly denies. Searching for professional advice online, he is inadvertently sucked into the dark world of incel-involuntary celibate-forums, where he meets the charismatic, mysterious, and sinister Bryn. Across the street from Owen lives the Fours family, headed by mom Cate, a physiotherapist, and dad Roan, a child psychologist. But the Fours family have a bad feeling about their neighbor Owen. He's a bit creepy and their teenaged daughter swears he followed her home from the train station one night. Meanwhile, young Saffyre Maddox spent three years as a patient of Roan Fours. Feeling abandoned when their therapy ends, she searches for other ways to maintain her connection with him, following him in the shadows and learning more than she wanted to know about Roan and his family. Then, on Valentine's night, Saffyre Maddox disappears-and the last person to see her alive is Owen Pick. With evocative, vivid, and unputdownable prose and plenty of disturbing twists and turns, Jewell's latest thriller is another "haunting, atmospheric, stay-up-way-too-late read" (Megan Miranda, New York Times bestselling author)"--… (más)

Invisible Girl is a fast-paced, easy read, following 17-year-old Saffyre as she gets unwittingly tangled in the family drama of her former therapist, Roan Fours, and then goes missing.

As Saffyre begins to trail Roan and his mistress Alyshia, she befriends Roan's son, Josh, and empathizes with his wife, Cate. As Roan and Alyshia cavort around the city, so does a mystery man assaulting women in Saffyre's neighborhood. But when Saffyre suddenly turns up missing, the police arrest a 33-year-old self-proclaimed incel (involuntary celibate), Owen, who just had a run-in with two female students where he teaches. Cate, however, becomes increasingly suspicious over the time her husband spends away from the house and with his past connection between him and the missing girl.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much meat on this story's bone and my favorite character was the cameo appearance made by a fox. Lisa Jewell writes a good story, Invisible Girl just wasn't my favorite. ( )

Told from multiple POVs, it’s a multi-weaved story about a family...Psychologist Dad, Stay at Home Mom and two teenage kids. A 33 virgin man that lived across the street from them and a high school student who was treated for self harming by the Psychologist dad.

There have been multiple reports of sexual assaults in the area and now a teenage girl, who was treated by the Dad, has been reported missing!

What happened to her and who is causing all these assaults??

Another Lisa Jewell great thriller that kept me guessing until the end!! I love when I can’t figure it out! I would give it 4 1/2 stars only because one of the twists was slightly unbelievable. ( )
