The title of this pastoral ministry guide comes from the passages of Chapter 10 of the book of Luke in which Jesus sends pairs of disciples out into towns to evangelize. Heney sections the book with the four instructions of Jesus to this group: First say peace; eat what is set before you; cure the sick; and announce the Kingdom of God. Heney takes each passage and explores, explains, interprets, and demonstrates the instruction with careful consideration of how parish ministers today can follow in Jesus’s path, as did the disciples. A key element to Heney’s guidance is communication to reach parishioners and other stakeholders and using that communication in a way that fulfills Jesus’s instructions. For instance, Heney explains how eating what is set before one can be not only good manners but also an opening to understanding the culture and concerns of those one serves as parish minister. The author’s elucidation of the four steps is thought provoking and inspiring.
"Fr. Dave Heney shares his four-step; bible-based leadership plan that builds on four simple directives from Jesus found in Luke's gospel and shows readers how to: build trusting relationships, embrace the culture of their parish, tend to the wounded, and speak the Good News in ways that their people can understand"-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
