I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this!

The characters are really intriguing, particularly George, even if he did drive me crazy for parts of the book. But Pierre was what made this story for me! He was just such an awesome character! I love his and Rachel's relationship. Yay for platonic relationships!
The storyline kept me glued to my seat, especially towards the end. I loved how it was part survival story, part suspense novel.

Overall, I really enjoyed it!

CONTENT NOTE: Recommended for ages 16 for romance and thematic material. The MC was sexually assaulted, and while the scene is not described in detail, it was still mentioned. Also there is some attraction between the characters and some light romance. Also some violence and gun fights. ( )

I read Frasier Island last night and was somewhat disappointed.

The military side of things was a great story line to follow along with. The plot was one that kept me intrigued through the end. There were some military inaccuracies but it's a fiction story so they can absolutely be overlooked.

The romance side however left much to be desired in my opinion. The relationship between George Hudson and Rachel Whitney lacked development and realism. It didn't make sense that George has to state "He won't fall in love with her" when she first arrives at Frasier Island...he SHOULDN'T fall in love with her, he's her superior officer and he JUST met her! It just seemed rushed that they went from barely talking on a professional level, let alone a friendship level to married in just a few weeks. This book could have been much better if there was more development and interaction of their characters relationship.

All in all, Frasier Island is a book that I'm planning to keep around but there are other things I'd read again before re-reading this book. ( )

Fraiser Island was a fast paced page turner. The story centers around George Hudson and Rachel Whitney. George is on a the very remote Fraiser Island. He is there with Pierre Belanger and Ron Davidson. Ron's assignment on the Island is up and he is being replaced by Rachel.

Rachel and George each have their reasons for being is such a remote location. Dealing with past hurts is a big part of that. Their attraction is instant but each batton-down-the-hatches on their feelings. George is not mean per-say but not overly friendly.

Rachel really tries hard to get in his good graces. She is well trained but not afraid to be female. She and Pierre become very good friends. They have a good time together and Pierre slowly tries to bridge the gap between her and George.

George has not been honost about what they are really guarding. He finally clues her in. There is a lot that happens after this part in the story. You are not sure who the enemy is. There are hints but you keep turning pages to see what happens next.

I agree with the other reviewers that Susan gave us the perfect balance of romance and suspense. And I did love the last chapter. That is worth the whole book. Aaahhhhh!!!!!

The characters and emotions felt very real. She sucked you in on the first page and by the end of the book you've fallen in love with each of them and feel like you were part of their journey.

Get the book! It's a keeper. I can't wait for Finding Marie due out in September. That is Pierre and Marie's story. She turns up missing and Pierre calls on his best friend George. ( )

When I first began reading, I thought that this was just another romance novel--but boy was I wrong!--this story is much more than that. It's also part suspense and adventure. The story line is one that keeps the attention of the reader. Just when it seems to be concluding, a new complexity develops. The ending is worth the price of the book!

The characters are believable. Rachel is a new Christian who gets assigned to a naval location with two other men. Talk about lonely! She has a problem with her temper and taking orders from a domineering male. As she stumbles along in her new faith, the reader can't help but root for her. She's almost forced to turn to God, and when she does, the reader can witness her growth in character. George, the man in charge, is a guy who takes time to get to know; there's something in his background that must be revealed. Pierre is comfortable from the first page he appears. These three naval officers assigned on a remote island set the stage for both romance and suspense. A good read! ( )
