After a fateful hunting accident sends her on the run from the law, Robyn finds herself deep in the heart of Sherwood Forest. All she really wants to do is provide for her family and stay out of trouble, but when the Sheriff of Nottingham levies the largest tax in the history of England, she's forced to take matters into her own hands. Relying on the help of her band of merry women and the Sheriff's intriguing-and off limits-daughter, Marian, Robyn must find a way to pull off the biggest heist Sherwood has ever seen. With both heart and freedom at stake, just how much will she risk to ensure the safety of the ones she loves?… (más)

This was great it read more like historical fiction then myth or legend with the change of station of Robyn from noblemen to fletcher, and amped up the relationship between Robyn and Marion by making Marion the daughter of Robyn's sworn enemy. ( )

A fun read. This is a lesbian retelling of the Robin Hood stories. A good adventure tale. ( )

i had to read a little about robin hood before i read this, because i'm not overly familiar with the story. but i'm not sure that you need to; probably there are lots of easter eggs for people who know the lore well, but without much knowledge it's still a fun read. it went much faster than the number of pages would indicate, once i got past the first few perspective changes. i do think she should have spent more time building each of the characters - robyn and marian - with longer sections initially. i wanted more build from each of the sections before switching back to the other; 6 or 8 pages wasn't quite enough to get into each section before it was over. (i did just read another book where this method was used and he spent more like 60-75 pages on each perspective, so i may have been prepped to want more.)

the writing was fine, nothing spectacular; the story was more or less predictable; and somehow this was totally satisfying to read. it was fun to see all of these women (and a guy or two) take on the men, and to reimagine this story from such a female-centered (and lesbian) place. this group of strong women was pretty fun to be around for a few days. LGBT retelling of Robin Hood with a central f/f pairing, you say?
