Review: This book was an interesting read, but it was not what I expected. From the title, I assumed it would have more tips on how to become a writer. The book does include five main tips for young readers on how they can begin writing, but they are short and interspersed throughout the book. The main focus of the book is a memoir of the author’s childhood and early adult years. You can see how the author’s experiences and curiosity growing up influenced him on the path to his writing career. Even though it wasn’t what I expected, it was an interesting book and a quick read. This book would be good for those who are interested in Fleischman’s other works or are interested in becoming an author someday. (
