This is one of those poetry books that I keep in the front of my classroom and is so dog eared that I may have to replace it soon! You can pick up this book and read any of the wonderful poems in it and children of all ages will be laughing and happy to hear such funny poems. Jack Prelutsky has such an imagination to sprout such tales of silly goofy subjects, I am glad to have found him early in my teaching career. ( )

This would be a great book to have in the classroom, and you could choose a couple to read daily as a morning opener or afternoon closer. This book can be used to introduce poetry to students as well as display the effectiveness of rhyming. After reading a few poems, students can create their own humorous poem to share with the class. This book is a collection of other poems into one book. Really cute book to pick a entry and read to the class if you are teaching poetry. ( )

I would use this book in a fourth or fifth grade class to practice choral reading. The poems are short enough to get through in one class, and even read multiple times. And, they can be used as review or introduction to topics such as alliteration and rhyme. ( )

This book is a collection of funny and humors shorter poems. The book would be considered poetry because the poems are not written i paragraphs and some of them are written to specific shapes. I would use this book in my classroom to introduce poetry to young children. I think this book does a good job of introducing form to children, as well as other basics elements of certain poems, such as rhyming, while making the poems enjoyable and understandable to a Young audience.
