This is yet another collection of poems by Jack Prelutsky and illustrated with zany pictures by James Stevenson. These silly poems are well loved by young children everywhere. These even includes a backwards poem and a poem that never ends. Prelutsky creates fun ways to present poetry that motivates students to love it. This book is composed of a lot of silly poems for children. I love it and I think that there is so much that educators can do with these poems. One of my favorite poems in the book is called I am your mirror image. I love it so much because the words are actually mirrored on the page. To me, it is the small things that will keep the readers engaged and interested. There are a lot of fun pictures as well. They are all colorless, but still meaningful. The pictures help to convey the message in each of the poems. Most of the poems in this book would work perfectly with a lesson on Rhyme. There are many great examples of rhyming words. A lot of the other poems are formatted in a unique way, which also makes the poems stand out from the very beginning. Besides the mirror poem, another example of this is I Was Walking in a Circle. The poem is actually in the shape of a circle. The poems that are formatted in a silly way are a great attention grabber! There is also a lot of humor in each of the poems. Prelutsky's writing style is relatable to children along with many adults. Summary; This is an entertaining book containing many works of funny and wacky rhyming poems with silly names. The fun elements of the writing helps readers achieve a better understanding of poetry and its elements. Personal Reaction; This is a great way to help children spark an interest in poetry but making it fun and creative by allowing readers to see how a poem can be inspired by anything! Classroom Extension Ideas; 1. Have the students create their own wacky poem. 2. Give the students an object and have them write funny and silly rhyming words from it. This book contains a great deal of poems that are great for introducing poetry and rhyming components. Many of the poems work as prime examples for creating writing activities in which students can write their own poems. The humor is consistently present in every poem and the poem titles are pretty clever as well. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
