My kids really enjoyed this book. Great for kids 5-10 years old. More geared towards little girls but little boys will also enjoy it. Especially any kids in girl or boy scouts would love it Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This is a cute little tale about Dot on a scouting adventure with her friend, Hal, and her Dad. To use technology or not is the question. Dot's dad trys to persuade the kids to put down there tablets and enjoy the outdoors. Dot and Hal show Dad the benefits of using their interactive scout book to log their scouting adventure. The kids are using their technology correctly, as a tool to track their scouting progress; so I don't know what Dad is so upset about. But I would love to see more Dot books about her scouting adventures. There are a lot of scouts out there that would enjoy reading about kids like themselves experiencing new adventures.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. LEAF IT TO DOT by Randi Zuckerberg is part of a developing reader series. When Dot, Hal, and Dad go on a scavenger hunt, they find using a tablet useful but also a distraction. This engaging short chapter book provides a timely lesson about the importance of balancing screen time and nature exploration. Librarians will find this short book to be a great way to talk with youth about enjoying nature. Weave it into the information literacy curriculum when discussing screen time and limiting device use. Children may recognize the characters from the television series. ARC courtesy of the publisher. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This is a great book. I loved how it encourages getting out and experiencing nature, but also reached how technology can be a great tool wet Jen used appropriately. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Dot is a spunky white character surrounded by a diverse group of kids. In this particular book in the series Dot and her friend Hal are Rangeroos, comparable to a girl or boy scouts group. They are in the woods with their dad to earn their scavenger hunt badge. Dot’s dad and dog Scratch have joined too. Dot and Hal have their tablet with them to help them on their scavenger hunt. Dad points out that because of it they miss some of the things around them. Eventually they do look around them but most of their scavenger hunt items are found with the Rangeroo app.
A book divided into chapters and advertised by the publisher as a level 2 book fit for beginning emerging readers not ready for smaller sized books yet. The chapters are 10+ pages long but the font is a little bigger than a smaller sized beginning chapter book.
This might be too ambitious for kindergartners but fans of the show will probably like this series.
