I haven't read one of these sorts of books in the longest time. Usually I'm about 85-100% sure that something will have a Happily Ever After ending, but with this one I was more like 30% sure or even less because of that first chapter. Yikes that first chapter.

It's the story of Jill and Carrie. They are both married to men, although not in the happiest of ways. Jill especially, even before she meets Carrie in the park during her lunch break, is having problems with her husband and daughter. Carrie's husband seems to just be absent. Then, Carrie and Jill meet at the park, and they become friends first, but, of course, then start becoming more as well. And, then, *sigh*, something horrible happens.

As I said above. I haven't read a story like this in a while (if ever), and so some of it was very jarring (cheating is not my favorite relationship trope to read, but Hill did a very good job with that part of the story I thought). Overall, though, I thought it was a good book with interesting characters who drove the novel (instead of just the plot driving the novel, since, heh, there wasn't much plot).

A good (not surprisingly so) Gerri Hill novel for sure. ( )
