Briefly stated, he must determine if there is a faulty distribution of the blood, viz., in the peripheral vessels, in the splanchnic area or in the pulmonary circula tion; if the pure hydraulics of the circulation are maintained and if its accomplishment is fulfilled without an expenditure of more than a normal amount of work by the heart.
