I did not enjoy reading this book. There were so many adjectives that it was hard to focus on the plot. Speaking of which, what was the point? I was not invested. It was so random. If there were less descriptors in the beginning I might have been more invested in the story and characters later. I care greatly abput the portrayal of black people in books. The only prominent black character was Lavert, a terminally ill reformed convict. He felt...odd. And inauthentic. And like his storyline was just like...thrown in there. I disliked that. I also didn't care about Cori or her ability to see the future, because as I said, there was nothing emotionally riveting about her or her story that compelled me to. Also, what was the point of her being huge? It was like, what? Why? What does this add to the story? I get that it makes her unique, but it felt pointless in the end. ( )
