This was so good. Rex can’t really stand Rynna at first but his adorable daughter Frankie is determined to be friends with her because she makes amazing pies. It’s almost an enemies to lovers type book but they are not total enemies just Rex has been burned by his ex so he is very cautious is all. It’s a sweet and steamy read. ( )

This book. Holy hell. I feel like I have been sucker punched. AL Jackson is one of the best authors out there. She paints a picture with her stories. Only instead of paint she uses words. Not just any words but words that weave around you and lure you in to her world. She invokes all the senses. You can hear, you can taste, you can feel, you can smell, and most importantly-- you can see. When I say see I mean truly see. To see with such clarity that it is liberating and brings unequivocal joy.

The characters, the setting, and the plot were spot on. I was riveted from the first sentence. Ryanna was pure magic. She reminded me of an pearl. A pearl that is created amidst hostile forces. Sometimes it takes awhile before that grain of sand becomes something rare and beautiful. Her grandma knew what a treasure she was. Ryanna just needed to figure it out for herself.

Rex. Yeah. This guy. My heart ached for him. He is a dream. He had to walk through the depths of hell. Yet, they say everything happens for a reason. In this case fate had a plan that led him to The Dayne women.

Frankie Leigh. What a doll. I loved that she was such a free spirit.

I cannot wait to read more from this standalone series. My heart hopes it won't be long because I am invested in all of the characters. ( )
