In Community Connections!, Dr. Pendleton offers some practical wisdom that is easy to understand and implement concerning relationship marketing or marketing in general. Even as a recent Healthcare Management MBA graduate, I confess my knowledge of relationship marketing in health care is somwhat limited. (Of course, I didn't major in marketing, so I would only expect to know a little about healthcare marketing. Maybe I'll learn more as I gain more experience.) Unfortunately, the focus (in business education) appears to be primarily on other types of businesses, but almost everything about health care is different. So, this book is a much needed resource.
Dr. Pendleton also encourages a healthy amount of introspection, which serves to help you find out more about who you are (and who you're not). She then urges us to use this (self) knowledge to shape a marketing plan that feels natural and is as unique as we are, by infusing ourselves into our practices.
I also appreciate her referrals to other potentially useful resources, like Failing Forward and On Writing which are already on my to-read list. I will definitely take her advice about creating an connection/relationship marketing calendar, using it for professional and personal purposes. And, I'll definitely be rereading and referencing this book again as I develop my relationship marketing skills and experiences.
Community Connections!--a quick and easy read, and helpful resource. ( )
