Molto bello, una storia anche dura e difficile che mi ha appassionato e coinvolto. ( ) Come Sundown is the story of the Bodine family. Years ago, one of the daughters, Alice, took off. And upon her return, she went missing. Her family never realized she was missing and resented her absence for 25 years. In present day, Bodine Longbow runs the resort portion of her family's ranch. She runs into an old crush, Callen Skinner, when he returns home to work for their ranch and "sparks" fly. Not really, but that's what we're supposed to believe. Then miracle of miracles happens .... Alice returns. There's a couple of girls killed. And a horse that does a lot of tricks. And that's about it. It wasn't one of the better romantic suspense. It was barely neither romantic nor suspenseful. And more than a little boring in places. And it was mostly just kind of sad. Neither Bodine nor Callen were particularly interesting. Their relationship was kinda blah. And while I adored Chase and Jessie, I'm not sure why either of them were actually even in the book. The story never really caught me up. On the whole I found this pretty ordinary. I generally only like NR's once a year romantic suspense books, but they can be pretty hit or miss. This one was mostly a miss. There were too many characters with POV scenes. There was a bit too much head hopping within scenes where I had to stop and figure out who was talking/thinking. Consequently, the story seemed rather meh. I didn't really care that much about any of the characters. The romance between Bodine and Callen was pretty darn lackluster. There was not conflict at all between them. Which would not have been all that necessary if the suspense story line had been more robust. As it was there was no tension. You knew from the beginning that Alice didn't get away so no tension there. And I guessed the bad guy from his first appearance on page. Well here's hoping next year's romantic suspense from Ms. Roberts is better. I love Nora Roberts books. In this romantic suspense novel, Alice is returning home along a deserted road after having run away years before. When a stranger offers her a ride, she gets in his truck. Twenty-five years later, Bodine runs the family ranch and commercial tourist properties. I loved the descriptions of horses and life in a rural part of Montana. Bodine and Callen, a friend of her brother’s, who she had a crush on way back when, may have a chance at romance now that they’re all grown up. But when women begin turning up dead on the side of the highway, it becomes clear danger lurks nearby. And is it connected to Alice’s disappearance? Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader. Nora Roberts has the uncanny ability to make you love her characters, their jobs, and their lives. In Come Sundown, Roberts explores the world of the western ranch/resort. Bodine Longbow is the boss of the resort and runs it efficiently. When Callen Skinner returns after wrangling horses in Hollywood, Bodine finds a reason to make time for him and his adorable horse, Sundown. In the background of Bodine's story is Alice, her aunt, who was taken captive after spending years away from her family and finally coming home. Alice spends the next several years becoming dependent on her captor and giving him children that he takes away from her leaving her alone and unloved. When Alice accidentally escapes and is found, a manhunt begins involving Bodine's entire family. Once again, Nora Roberts weaves a story of a large, happy family coming to terms with loss, sorrow, and the depths of love. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"A novel of suspense, family ties, and twisted passions from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Obsession... The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it's kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine's aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born. She never returned, and the Longbows don't talk about her much. The younger ones, who never met her, quietly presume she's dead. But she isn't. She is not far away, part of a new family, one she never chose--and her mind has been shattered... When a bartender leaves the resort late one night, and Bo and Cal discover her battered body in the snow, it's the first sign that danger lurks in the mountains that surround them. The police suspect Cal, but Bo finds herself trusting him--and turning to him as another woman is murdered and the Longbows are stunned by Alice's sudden reappearance. The twisted story she has to tell about the past--and the threat that follows in her wake--will test the bonds of this strong family, and thrust Bodine into a darkness she could never have imagined"-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
