Kind of a long, drawn out romance. I would have liked to see some of Genevieve's inventions in action rather than just talking about them, but Carriger's goal here was to focus on the relationship and Imogene's determination to finally get the girl of her dreams.
I like the wolves. The vampires, however, are detestable. ( )
Thank you, Gail Carriger, for novellas about your side characters -- did I say that in my last review? I think I did, but holy cats! This one is beautiful and hot and lovely. Let's hear it for lesbian steampunk almost erotica, and for a writer who's pen is as seductive as it is possible to be. ( )
YES. GOOD. More Victorian lesbians please, especially in the steampunk/supernatural genre. I absolutely adored this romance, the weaving subplots, and the return to this world. The pack's presence is so over the top, but so right and so satisfying. Carriger manages to get so much of the characters' personalities in with just a few words. Alexia is a force even as a side character, and every single second is pure joy. And Channing being NICE?!?! I was just as floored as Genevieve. Good on you for getting that side of him, Imogene. ( )
