This reference book requires some time to understand its use, but the time will be rewarded. 939 figures show photographs of samples “intended to be a guideline to eliminate, if possible, sampling time and expense by giving..an immediate point of comparison between particular sizes of cotton and linen warp yarns, each used with a variety of possible weft yarns and setts.” Each sample was woven on a 4 shaft loom and is treadled in plainweave, twill, and basket weave. The same warp has samples shown with 20, 15, 12, and 10 EPI so that you can easily see the difference the sett makes. Any weaver with a desire to understand the difference sett makes to their weaving will find this book a wonderful resource. ( )
