A boy decides to write his mailbox to request mail, and he gets a little more than he bargained for.

"It Came in the Mail" is another book that has been recognized as a CLEL winner. And indeed, it is pretty great.

Liam wants mail. So he writes a letter to his mailbox asking....and what do you know!! A dragon appears. But that's not all.....but Liam soon finds that he is getting more than needs. Maybe there are others who would like mail as well.

Children might not immediately pick up on the character building. Yet there are elements of giving to others, making do with what you have....these are good things. ( )

A boy would always check the mail waiting for something to come. On day he got a dragon in the mail. Then the mail was giving him all kinds of things everything was coming out of the mail till it became too much. Then the boy began to give away some of his things he got in the mail. This is a fun and imaginative book to share with a classroom that teaches a lesson in sharing. ( )

Liam really wants some mail, but he never gets any, until he has the idea that if he sends some mail, he might receive some in return. "Dear Mailbox, I would like to get something in the mail. Something BIG! Please!" Mailbox obliges with a dragon, which is exciting at first, but Liam wants more, and more, and more. Finally he realizes that it is TOO MUCH MAIL, and asks the mailbox to send some of it to other kids, until he is left with just the original dragon.

Funny fantasy - might encourage kids to send their own mail! ( )
