"Archaeologist Leah Andrews stumbles upon something inexplicable in southwestern New Mexico: inside a dark cavern lies an undiscovered, Native American cliff dwelling abandoned for 800 years. While twisting through one of the narrow underground passageways, Leah's flashlight illuminates the remains of a violent massacre. Ancient human remains--all slaughtered in a long-ago massacre--cover the cavern floor, along with a number of brilliantly colored, granite crystals. The rare crystals are native to only one place on earth: a frozen mountain range in central Antarctica. Could Native Americans have traveled to the frozen continent of Antarctica 800 years prior to the first known human exploration? If so how? And why? There's only one person who can get Leah to those mountains in Antarctica: her estranged husband and climbing guide Jack Hobson. At their destination they make a stunning discovery that will change history and science forever. But Leah's team is far from the only interested party. As her secret makes its way to the highest levels of government, a race to seize the Russian-claimed Antarctic territory brings the world to the brink of nuclear conflict."--Back cover.… (más)

800 year old Cliff Dwellers found Alive?

Leah Andrews is an anthropologist who worked for the Bureau of Land Management. Her husband is Jackson Hobson, an acclaimed climber of Mt. Everest. Alan Paulson is Jack's latest client who completes the Everest ascent.

Lynn has recently been let go from her position with the BLM due to political differences with the Director of the Interior, Stanton Fischer. But she refuses to give up looking for missing communities of cliff dwellers in the Gila National Wilderness.

What Lynn, her sidekicks, Garrett Moon and Marko find will change the history of the world. Unfortunately, while validating some data, they attract unwanted attention.

Meanwhile, Jack Hobson and Al Paulson successfully summit Mt. Everest and become fast friends. Which is a good thing because Leah reaches out to Jack to solve the mystery of why rock crystals found only in Antarctica are in the cliff dwellers site.

The rest of the book is an intense wild ride from the US to Chile to the Antarctic and back. Our gang is frozen, shot at, almost nuked and kidnapped by the government. All to protect the astonishing secrets of what they uncover in the ice of Antarctica. I highly recommend this book! ( )

Ever feel you've read a book before? I recognized characters from other places in the world of fiction. If you've been in the ride along with Dirk Pitt in a Clive Cussler novel you will get the same experience from Ice. Want more of a reincarnation of Lindsey Brigman from Abyss? Got a character to cover that. How about the little girl from Aliens? Got that too. Once going I got so into the plot that just couldn't quit until it ended. I enjoyed my E ticket ride! ( )

Ice held my attention all the way through. Great technical detail, good characterization, fascinating historical intrigue. Recommend. ( )

ICE is an adventure/thriller that builds its characters in two different settings, the southern New Mexico desert region and Mount Everest. The main characters are an adventurer named Jack, who happens to be the estranged husband of Leah. Leah is an archeologist with absolutely no diplomatic skills. It is Leah’s bold actions, determination, and mouth that get them into so much trouble.
The climbing challenges facing Jack were raw adventure that could not have been described without extensive research or mountain climbing experience. Reading one night about Jack climbing in the cold mountain winds had me pulling the blankets up a little higher. After finishing the eBook, I got online to research the author and found that he does have mountaineering experience. Only from that kind of experience, and a well-developed gift for words, can someone describe what an experience truly feels like to a reader who has never had the adventure.
What started out as an archeological mystery ultimately took a science fiction turn. This turn was well incorporated into the story line, however. Even with alien artifacts, Leah again is the one who ignores caution and barges ahead to make the greatest scientific/archeological discovery of all times. The US government is hell-bent on taking control of her fine and only by haberdashery does her husband leverage the government to do the right thing.
If you like thrillers, you won’t be sorry picking this book up. There was finality to the ending but Kevin Tinto, the author, included two teaser chapters at the end of ICE for a sequel ICE Genesis. The sequel is coming out by the end of the 2017 first quarter. Cleaver Tinto knew what he was doing by including these two chapters as now I have to buy his next book to see how it ends. ( )
