DNF at 25%. I really don’t think this book is bad. It’s just something about it was really not working for me. I think part of it was just how naive the protagonist was. That’s just not the sort of character I personally like but I think others could enjoy this book.

Lane is charmingly oblivious about a lot of things. He has an air of innocence about him. He can't deal with feelings. And he doesn't have a filter. No wonder Jared fall for him. Lane brought some sunshine in his life.
I enjoyed this a lot. And while I loved the progression of the relationship, by the time I reached the middle of the story, it was a done deal. From than on there wasn't anything important happening. I wouldn't say it was boring, coz the shit that comes out of Lane's mouth is astonishing and I was entertained, but it did drag a bit. Especially if someone doesn't care about all the hockey stuff, It can be quite dry.

This was one of those books I just couldn't put down. It was fun! Not really hockey-technical on which I was grateful, because the stuff I learned about hockey I learned through books. I never watched a game in my life. Books like these make me want to start though. Or maybe meet a real life hockey player and see if they are really as weird as everyone seems to think :D
Lane and Jared were really fun to watch as a couple. Lane is an oddball even for a hockey player, and many times I wondered if he was maybe an alien baby left on Earth or a changeling or something. I loved him! What I also really appreciated is that there wasn't any couple angst. They pretty much figured out what they wanted from each other from the start, and any misunderstandings didn't turn into great ones.
This was my first book written by Avon Gale and I'm looking forward to more! ( )
